Sebastian Lesher was born in 1669 at Hochspeyer, Germany. He married
Anna Maria Elizabeth Unknown circa 1688 at Hochspeyer, Germany. Sebastian Lesher died circa 1749 at Germantown, NY. He Sebastian emigrated from Hochspeyer, Reinland Pfalz, Germany to East Camp on the Hudson, in the Livingston land grand, in 1710, at the age of 40. With him were his wife Anna Maria Elisabetha, married about 1888. He was recorded a Palatine Debtor in 1718, 1719 at Kingsberry and Germantown. No one today is certain of the location of Kingsberry or the other early Palatine settlements, thugh most were in the vicinity of present-day Germantown, Columbia Co NY.
He is on the Livingston Debt Lists of 1721, 1726 and on the list of "families reported as willing to remain in Germantown, Aug 26 1724."
Sebastian's family is the most complex and prolific of all the NY 1709er families. He came from a small village in the Rheinland Pfalz, Hochspeyer. Sebastian was a vinedresser and husbandman by trade. A devout Lutheran.
He was found to be trustworthy by the lords of the Livingston Manor, enough so to be reckoned a caretaker for areas of the Manor's lands. It is attested that his descendants continue to fill this position for several generations.
Sebastian lived well into old age for his time. He was lst known as being recorded a sponsor for one of his numerous grandchldren's Christening in 1734, which would make him about 66. We do not know when or where he died or was buried.
